We are pleased and proud to announce that owner and partner Helena Downyok, Esq., has been invited to join the Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court as a Barrister!
The American Inns of Court were created in large part through the efforts of Chief Justice Warrren Burger in the 1970s, loosely modeled after English Inns where students, lawyers, judges, and professors debate issues of legal ethics and professionalism. You can find more information about American Inns of Court here.
Inns of Court in Florida are generally made up of judges and prominent members of the legal community ("Masters"), who invite promising younger attorneys (classified as "associates") to be mentored by Masters and members of 5-12 years of service to the bar, called "Barristers." Meetings of the Inn are held regularly, and the discussions and meetings sometimes qualify as continuing legal education credits because the Inns are so thorough in their discussions and mission of continuing education and fostering the highest level of professionalism and ethics.
Mr. Downyok was invited as an associate soon after he began practicing in Fort Myers years ago, and he and the rest of the firm as so very pleased that Mrs. Downyok has been invited to join this prestigious and worthwhile organization. Indeed, the Judge John M. Scheb Inn of Court and the firm share the goals of maintaining the highest level of professionalism, competence, and ethics, and we are humbled and thankful in her acceptance of the Inn's invitation.
Congratulations Mrs. D!
